ABOUT THE GEORGE
STREET ASSOCIATION
The GSA was established in 1952 to represent the
interests and concerns of the diverse elements who
live and work in the Street and adjoining streets.
The association co-ordinates with the many City Centre
bodies; the Cockburn Association, other street and
district associations and the UN Heritage local organisation
to lobby the City Council on matters of concern to
the area. The Association has a Council with one
of its members sitting on the City Centre Retail
Forum.
In recent years the GSA has co-ordinated and raised
funds to provide, in conjunction with the City Council,
street Christmas decorations; has voiced opinion
concerning road traffic management schemes and will
monitor closely the installation of the tram system
and Business
Improvement District (BID). It is the Association’s
policy to establish close links with all parties
to ensure the Street interests receive their due
care and attention.
The Council meets every two months and members are
very welcome to attend, the AGM is held in early
May during which notable City personalities are invited
to address the meeting.
